"We came to Hue from a pretty bad and overpriced hotel in Hoi An and the room/amenities in the Victory Hotel was a true sight for sore eyes.
We were three adults, so we chose to stay in the Family Suite, with fairly low expectations, but once we actually saw the room, we were truly impressed with this little gem of a hotel. The room was Huge, with a small living room type area, a big lcd TV (about 32") with sat television (and decent number of English channels) that swiveled so you can watch it either from the living room or from the bedroom area. We had two very clean and comfortable beds, our own PC on a good sized desk and wireless access to boot (for our laptop). I'm typically a bit paranoid about using shared computers for my e-mail or anything involving a login, so I installed some software to do a scan of the PC for spy software (keystroke loggers, etc.) and it came up 100% clean. The family suite also has a private balcony, the view wasn't anything spectacular, but still, it's a nice feature.
The washroom is clean and has a new look to the ceramics, etc. Not something to take for granted in hotels in Vietnam. And the shower head actually hooks up at a normal western height, again something against the norm here.
A limited breakfast is also included on the top floor "restaurant", which has an almost 360 view of the city.
All this for under $40 USD/night.
The only minor downside is the location, it's not central to the core area of Hue, about 10-15 minute walk or 3-5 minute cab ride. Either way, not a big deal given that a 5 minute cab ride around here will cost you about 12,000 Dong or $0.67 USD. "
